2011 marked the 40th anniversary of the 1971 war that led to the creation of the state of Bangladesh. CAP in conjunction with Vasl Artists’ Collective, Karachi, and the National College of Arts, Lahore, commemorated the transformation of the subcontinent with an exhibition at the IVS gallery and NCA, chronicling the period from the birth of Pakistan to the birth of Bangladesh.
An interactive exhibit at the IVS Gallery and NCA was curated to take visitors through an interactive timeline from 1947 to 1971 with videos, photographs, objects, oral histories and other archival material. Objects from Dhaka were brought to Karachi and then transported to Lahore. Never seen before telegrams and photographs were displayed. A collaboration with the 1947 Archive from Berkley, US, showed oral histories from the other side of the border.
