Dekho Pakistan

Sadequain Gallery, Frere Hall, Karachi

‘Dekho Pakistan’, was an interactive exhibition designed to commemorate the reopening of one of Pakistan’s heritage sites – Frere Hall, as part of the Hamara Karachi Festival 2011.

Karachi is a tapestry of several diverse stories that together form the story of a city. ‘Dekho Pakistan’ mesmerised the youth through its enthralling exhibits, installations and interactive activities about Karachi and Pakistan to engage children and encourage their interest in history.  Visitors and enthusiasts were enticed to narrate their memories in CAP’s OHP through a train installation that depicts the train journey from Lahore to Amritsar in 1947. The interactive section featured a walk – through of a map of Karachi with 3-D monuments. Children took part in a map quiz to find important monuments and places of personal significance in their city.

‘Dekho Pakistan’ featured a photography exhibition of vintage photographs that portrayed the ascendance of Pakistan and Karachi in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. The exhibit also amplified the lingual significance of Urdu, a Hall of rare maps and a multimedia experience of CAP’S OHP.
